Guitar Directors' Summer Conference 2020

Monday, July 20 and Tuesday, July 21, 2020 

Location:  Online video stream meetings  (links to be provided to accepted applicants)

Cost:  FREE, for all active TGDA members (Regular, Retired or Student) who successfully submit an application to participate (registration application form link below).  If you are not currently an active TGDA member, please JOIN as soon as convenient.

3-hours of morning sessions (both days), 3.5-hours of afternoon roundtable discussions (both days).

MONDAY - JULY 20 - Morning Sessions: 9am, 10am and 11am CDT, respectively

Teaching Resources for Hybrid Instruction, Jose Campos, Odessa High School

Creative Funding Opportunities for the Guitar/Music Classroom, Susan Rozanc, Travis HS (Austin)

"Guitar Talk" with Professor Holzman, Q&A about Technique and Student Coaching, Adam Holzman, UT Austin

   -- CPE credit hours given for morning sessions --

MONDAY - JULY 20 - Afternoon Roundtable Discussion Session:   1:30pm - 5:00pm

1:30 - 2:15pm -- Follow-up Q&A and discussion of morning sessions

2:30 - 3:15pm -- Participant Presentations (5-minute presentations, please submit your proposal in advance)

     In addition to Participant Presentations we will also address:
      "SHARE WHAT WORKS":  Participants ask specific questions or present their specific challenges to the group
       We all brainstorm or offer possible solutions to your specific challenges and individual situation

3:30 - 5:00pm -- TGDA Recommendations for a Safe Classroom and a Healthy Learning Environment

     We will discuss tips and recommendations for safety in your physical classroom as well as addressing
     the mental/emotional health needs of students and teachers to support safe, healthy and effective music learning.


TUESDAY - JULY 21 - Morning Sessions: 9am, 10am, 11am CDT

Closing the Distance in Distance Learning, Michael Quantz, UT Rio Grande Valley 

Bridging the Divide: Making Impactful Connections with Our Students, David Conger, Lamar MS (Austin)

Distance Learning using a Flipped Class and Music Prodigy, Bill Swick, Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, NV

TUESDAY - JULY 21 - Afternoon Roundtable Discussion Session:   1:30pm - 5:00pm
