The TGDA advocates on behalf of developing guitar programs to provide avenues for achievement and serve the population of guitar students in the same manner that Texas band, choir, and orchestra students are served.
TGDA will:
Assist in the progress of secondary programs to reach the high educational level that Texas band, choir and orchestra programs have achieved
Create a diverse network of successful classroom guitar directors to participate in the regular review and updating of the Texas Guitar Prescribed Music List
Assist in establishing the Texas UIL All-State Guitar Ensemble
Collect data in support of the TGDA mission and goals
Seek to collaborate with TBA, TCDA, and TODA to offer summer workshops for guitar teachers and other interested music educators
Assist in the creation of scholarship opportunities for classical guitar students in Texas
