Mission Statement

The TGDA is a network of caring music educators promoting achievement in classroom guitar education through high standards, advocacy, resources, and a balance between rigor, inclusiveness, and diversity.

The TGDA will:

  • Promote education excellence in the guitar classroom through advocacy, support for high instructional standards for guitar, and building strong partnerships in the music education community
  • Become a wellspring for innovation, information, and communication for guitar teachers from all backgrounds
  • Offer regular professional development opportunities for Texas guitar directors
  • Promote a collaborative and supportive spirit among members
