The Guitar Studio International Festival and Competition -- Fort Worth -- January 16-18, 2026

Collin College Guitar Festival---February 5 and 6 -- Plano -- FREE; Featuring: Randall Avers

TMEA -- February 11-14, 2026 -- San Antonio  (TGDA Booth 8 in Exhibit Hall and Annual Session, 8:00am, Sat. Feb. 14 at the TMEA Convention).

Texas Guitar Competition and Festival -- UT Dallas -- March 5-7, 2026.

Southwest Guitar Symposium -- UT San Antonio -- March 13-15, 2026.

The Brownsville Guitar Ensemble Festival -- March 27 and 28, 2026.  With a competition component (up to 3 ensembles per school). Brownsville.

Hill Country Guitar Ensemble Festival  -- Texas State University in San Marcos -- April 10 and 11, 2026. (Competition event for duos, trios, quartets or large ensembles).

Edinburg Guitar Ensemble Festival -- UTRGV Edinburg, TBA

The Houston Classical Guitar Festival -- June 15-20, 2026.

The Summer Guitar Conservatory, in Houston, June 10-18, 2026 -- 7-days, free for students, all levels. There is an Advanced Ensemble that students can audition for. In addition, the SGC has a teacher-training program (with up to 14 hours of TGDA CPE credits) and an adult guitar student program, for adults that want to practice their ensemble and solo chops.

Austin Classical Guitar/GuitarCurriculum Teacher Summit -- July 21-23 at The Rosette, Austin -- 2-day intensive workshop designed to prepare teachers who are new to the guitar classroom and to improve the playing and instruction of experienced guitar teachers. Expert faculty also assist music teachers in developing their guitar-playing skills.

Texas Guitar Directors Summer Conference  --  July 24 & 25, 2026, at Travis High School, Susan Rozanc, Director  Registration open soon.

Mountainview Guitar Festival -- Dallas College, late September, 2026

(Directors rate each ensemble after playing)

2:00 -- BREAK

2:30 pm -- Rehearsal (cont'd) / PML Consultation and Review Committee

3:30 pm -- Select Pieces for Saturday Recording as a Group

(Same conductors as reading session)

4:00 pm -- Keynote Speaker -- Award-Winning Guitar Director (TBD)

6:00 pm -- Dinner, Local Restaurant

Saturday, July 25, 2026

9:00 am -- Conducting Workshop, Warm-ups and Sight-Reading for Ensemble

10:00 am – Guitar Ensemble Repertoire for All Levels 

11:30 am -- LUNCH BREAK

1:00 pm -- "Composing and Arranging for Guitar Ensemble"

2:00 pm -- TGDA Annual Session Topics 2025

2:30 pm -- Final Rehearsal (pieces selected on Friday)

4:00 pm -- Final Performance (with audio and video recording)
